I mean... door!
My classroom only has one bulletin board so I definitely have to be creative, but I am certainly not complaining. One bulletin board makes my life so much easier. Sure, I have to change the bulletin board regularly, but doors? Not so much!
So my original idea was to come up with some way to familiarize my students with their government officials but also let them view the government in a spiritual light. We as Christians often get so bogged down by the way things are going today that we start blaming the government, and not extending to them the Christian grace and spirit that God expects of us. Sure, we talk about praying for them, but do we really? I don't want my students to walk away from my class with the attitude that government is worthless.
At first, I was just going to do a nice handout with the faces of the main government officials, but then I realized I had four massive doors that still needed decorated and whole idea of a "Government Bulletin Board" just evolved from there.

So obviously, each branch of government got its own door. This "bulletin board" door was essentially free. My school does allow us to use the printer, supplies, and laminator whenever we want as long as it is strictly for school purposes. Obviously this is! And it was a huge blessing to be able to use all of that equipment. It saved me a bucket load of money.
"Pray for Our Government" poster - Ok, full disclosure... I didn't not mean to make two posters. I messed up the first poster and salvaged the list portion. But I needed a bigger poster to write the heading. Not to mention, I forgot a letter in the word "government." The prayer list portion I did make myself. It took a lot of prayer to get it just right.
I spent about $3 on a 5-piece poster pack and $8 on stencils from A.C. Moore. I already had the markers and I have used the leftover poster board for other items. I plan on making another similar poster for missionaries in the future, so the stencils will come in handy.
Official photos - All of the pictures are public domain and available on Wikipedia. I used Photoshop to convert all of the pictures to be 7x9".

The Info Labels - I made these on Photoshop. They are 7x3." The blue represent Democrat and the Red represent Republican. I searched each government official's website for a history of political offices that they have held. I love the chevron subtle chevron background. It is a little more mature because it is smaller, but it keeps the room on trend.
Right now the goal has been to pray for our elected officials every Tuesday because Tuesday is election day. But I haven't quite mastered the habit yet. We are getting there and the kids are starting to remember that Tuesday is "Pray for our Government" day and seem to be looking forward to it.
